The most exciting event for any author is the release of a new book, and today, that event is happening for me. Legacy, Book II of The Time Weaver Chronicles is now released and available for purchase on both Amazon and Kobo Books.

Once upon a time...

...a warrior of light defeated an insane wizard, but behind every heroic story lies a truth never told.

A man washes ashore on the island of Arda after a terrible storm, remembering nothing but his name: Krycin. The blue wizard Gladius finds him, takes him in, and is determined to help Krycin regain what he's lost.

The Fates have other plans. Krycin's presence on Galadir is disrupting the fabric of the universe. The solution? Eliminate him, by any means necessary. When Gladius sides with the council, his efforts to destroy Krycin spark a war that threatens all life on Galadir.

In order to save himself and what remains of his people, Krycin must defeat Gladius, but time is running out. Every step Krycin takes to destroy Gladius makes things worse, and now a massive army is marching on Findoor. Krycin must come up with a way to defeat Gladius before it's too late, and forge his legacy for the future of Galadir.

Continued support for Reglue!

I tossed around the idea of supporting a different charity with a portion of the proceeds from Book II, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Reglue means a lot to me, both for what they do, and what they stand for. Sure, there are other PC giveaway programs out there doing very excellent work, but none of them have Ken Starks at the helm, and he's just awesome. So, as with The Time Weaver, $0.50 from each eBook, and $1.00 from each paperback sold will be donated to Reglue to help keep them going.

DRM-Free, Because I Care

All of my books are released DRM free, which means you can buy it once, and copy it to any device you own, and even convert to to other formats. If you are looking for a great piece of software that will help you do this, Calibre is fantastic, and very easy to use. It's also free and Open Source.

Speaking of Open Source...

I consider myself an avid user and supporter of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). All of my books were written, edited, formatted, converted, illustrated and published using 100% FOSS. In fact, my household has been Microsoft-free for a number of years, and I don't foresee that changing any time soon. Truth is, I find the FOSS tools to be not only adequate, but quite good at doing everything I need them to do - in most cases, better than the proprietary cousins of the programs.

I'd like to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being a part of my journey. It really means a lot to me that you take the time to not only drop by on my website, but also purchase and read my books. It takes hundreds of hours of work to put a novel together, but you all make it worthwhile. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy Legacy.

The Next Big Thing

We all want to write it. Who knows what it's gonna be. But this blog hop was designed to maybe find it. My good friends Susan Taitel and Reggie Ridgway put me up to this, and so here it is, my answers to the questions for "The Next Big Thing". (Hey... maybe it's me?)

What is the working title of your book?

Legacy, Book II of The Time Weaver Chronicles

Where did the idea come from for the book?

Legacy is a continuation of the story started in my debut novel, The Time Weaver. In The Time Weaver, we met Seth, a Time Weaver, though he grew up not knowing it. He's taken to the world of Galadir, and learns about its history. In Legacy, we go back in time one hundred years to the Lyecian war and see how it all began.

What genre does your book fall under?

Epic fantasy.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

My first choice for the young Gladius would be Kevin Zegers. Young, brooding, temperamental, ambitious. I think he's perfect for the role. Krycin on the other hand would have to be played by a nobody. I don't think a big name actor would fill the role the way I would want to see it filled.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

"History tells a story of an insane wizard who was defeated by a hero of light, but behind every story, there is a truth that was never told."

That's really the best I could come up with in a short amount of time.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Self-published, all the way. I wouldn't have it any other way.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

Nine months. One month for the first fifty thousand words, and eight months for the rest.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

That's hard to say. I've been told my stories are pretty different from what's out there right now. That was the intention when writing them. I would have to leave it up to the reader to decide if it is comparable to other books on the market.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

Nothing really inspired me to write it. Writing has become a need to me. I write my stories because if I don't, they haunt me. At least this way I can get them out and share them with the world.

What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?

Intense combat scenes, powerful magic, deep and compelling mystery. Characters, lands, cultures and races never before seen.

So that's it, all about my latest work in progress in ten questions. I'm currently in the middle of editing, and have a tentative release date of January 31, 2013.

Welcome to The Hydraforge

On Galadir, legend tells of a place where the gods themselves were born unto the world.

That place is The Hydraforge.

What does that have to do with me or my blog? Well, my plans over the next little while have changed, and The Hydraforge has a lot to do with it. Most of you know that I'm hard at work on Book II of The Time Weaver Chronicles, and am currently on track for its release in January of 2013. Many of you have also been loyal readers and followers since I started writing and blogging, and I appreciate that. I've decided recently that it's time for a change in how I'm doing things, and I know y'all will understand.

I have a limited amount of spare time, and that time must be divided up among all my hobbies. Writing is but one of them. Role-playing games are another. The truth is, I've been a gamer a lot longer than I've been a writer, but I've been devoting more time to writing than gaming.

The Hydraforge is an effort to combine the two hobbies.

As a twenty-year fan of role-playing games, one goal I've always had for myself is to create a game system of my own that I could run my games in. The Hydraforge will be that system. A full campaign setting (Galadir), magic system, combat system, skill system, and so much more.

But here's the best part:

Everything I develop for Hydraforge will be available in digital form, completely free. PDF downloads of all materials can be obtained here from my website, and free eBooks from all major online book distributors. As I work on bits and pieces of it, I'll post it here for people to look at, evaluate, and give feedback on. In that way, perhaps we can all work together on it.

The setting guide will allow you to create stories and campaigns in Galadir. So you'll not only be able to read about Galadir, but also experience the world through your own character's eyes. There are untold corners of Galadir still to explore, and The Time Weaver Chronicles will only reveal a small portion of what there is to discover.

I want to thank everyone for their support thus far. I couldn't have made it this far without you. I hope you'll continue with me along this journey, because this is going to get very exciting!
